PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cardiac function monitoring device capable of easily and continuously monitoring a heat mechanical efficiency in a noninvasive fashion. SOLUTION: A heart mechanical efficiency calculating means 88 calculates a heart mechanical efficiency Ees/Ea, i.e., the ratio of left ventricle post-systolic elastance Ees to aortic effective elastance Ea, oh the basis of bloodlessly determined pre-ejection period PEP, ejection period ET, post-diastolic aortic pressure Pad, and post-systolic aortic pressure Ped by use of the relationship represented by present formulas: Ees/Ea=(Pad/Pes[1+K(ET/PEP)]-1 K=a(Ees/Ea)b+C(ET/ PEP)+d wherein (a), (b), (c), (d) each represent constants. Therefore, the heart mechanical efficiency Ees/Ea corresponding to cardiac functions can be easily and continuously monitored in a noninvasive fashion.
