PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an installation method for a passenger conveyor to be installed on an existing flight of stairs in a building by simple construction requiring less working on the stairs to be easy to get on and off. SOLUTION: A recessed part 5 is provided in a lower floor surface 3 at a lower end part of an existing flight of stairs 2, a main frame 6 is disposed above the stairs 2, and a lower end part 7 of the main frame 6 is contained in the recessed part 5 to be disposed at such a position that the lower floor surface 3 vertically coincides with a lower landing port floor surface 8 of the main frame 6. An upper end lower surface 9 of the main frame 6 is disposed above the stairs 2 to be disposed at such a position that an upper floor surface 4 of the stairs 2 vertically coincides with an upper landing port floor surface 10 of the main frame 6. A recessed place 12 formed between an upper end surface 11 of the main frame 6 and the upper floor surface 4 of the stairs 2 is closed. A step is not generated, therefore, between a passenger port floor of a passenger conveyor and a floor of a building 1, and stairs or the like are not required at this place to facilitate getting on/off the conveyor, and simplify installation construction.
