PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which power consumption can be reduced as compared with a conventional one at the time of operation for detecting the state of the imaging apparatus in sleep mode. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus in which a transition can be made to a sleep mode for interrupting power supply in order to perform operation comprises a member for detecting the state of the imaging apparatus, a member for supplying power to each part of the imaging apparatus, and means for controlling the power supply member to supply power only to the state detecting member and a member required for the state detecting member to detect the state when the state detecting member detects the state in sleep mode.
