PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel device for assisting protection for an occupant in a vehicle. SOLUTION: This device 10 for assisting the protection for the occupant in the vehicle 12 provided with a side part structure 16 has an inflatable occupant-in-vehicle protecting device 14. The inflatable protecting device is inflated in a position between the structural member of the vehicle and the occupant. The device 10 has an inflator 22 for inflating the inflatable protecting device and for keeping an inflated condition at least for 5 seconds. The inflator stores a storage inflation fluid under a pressurized condition. The fluid is formed of substantially helium.
