PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically drive an indoor ventilation fan and an alarm generation means to request rescue to the people in the outside when detecting CO gas having density exceeding reference gas density set in advance by a gas sensor. SOLUTION: This carbon monoxide poisoning prevention device is provided with the gas sensor BS in which penetration amount of irradiation light L from a light source LS is changed in accordance with the density of CO gas starting to fill a room, a gas density detection means DT for receiving penetration light from the gas sensor BS by a light receiver LD and converting light penetration amount into a voltage to detect gas density, a gas density comparison means COM for comparing the detected gas density with the reference gas density set in advance and outputting a CO judgement signal when the gas density exceeds the reference gas density, and a control means COT for automatically driving the ventilation fan F exhausting CO gas filled in the room and the alarm generation means AL generating an emergency alarm to the outside.
