A reverse locatable nestable shelving system which may be assembled from a number of like rectangular shelf modules (20) each having a flat upper surface (22) with a depending skirt (24) extending around three edges of the shelf (20) and the remaining edge scalloped to define a sequence of semi-recesses (26). Each shelf module (20) also contains a series of spaced-apart longitudinal ribs (36) and a series of spaced-apart transverse ribs (37) which both extend from the underside of its upper surface (22), although the transverse ribs (37) do not extend as far away from the upper surface (22) as the longitudinal ribs (36). One or more of the corners of the self are provided with frangibly removable portions (25) that may be broken away along the perforation (21) provided so as to accommodate vertical post (9) with horizontally extending members that support the self modules (20). A pair of self modules (20) are nestable by abutting the longitudinal ribs (36) of one self module (20) against the transverse ribs (37) of the other shelf module (20). The scalloped edges of a pair of shelf modules (20) either abut to inter-digitate the fingers formed between the pairs of the semi-recesses (26), or alternatively, the scalloped edge of one shelf module (20) abuts the skirt (24) of an adjacent module (20) in order to allow the alignment of shelf modules (20) in a co-planar fashion.
