The device for removal of petroleum products from the surface of water relates to the landing equipment of aircraft and it is intended for increasing the efficiency of collection of oil, which spilled on surface water, by discharge from the aircraft of the tanks with the sorbent, which are displaced from the point of impact into the water under oilspot. At landing from the aircraft the tank is oriented by longitudinal axis in the direction of incident flow since the presence of cover in its head part displaces position of center of tank weight to its head part. At vertical entry of the tank into the water the membrane on its front end is knocked out by strong pressure of water, and on the rear end and on the side of tank the membranes are knocked out under the strong pressure of sorbent. On the side of cover, as a result of asymmetrical inclination of its leading edge, the side component of resisting force of water acts, which creates the force, which gives curvilinear trajectory to the motion of tank. During motion in the water along curvilinear trajectory the tank displaces from the point of its impact into the water under oil spot. Sorbent leaving from the tank during its motion under water, floats to surface water under the layer of oil separating it from the water. Technical result: introduction of sorbent under the layer of oil on surface water and increase of efficiency of its use, and reduction of time required for elimination of the flood of oil.
