PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device which is superior in contrast, has a wide-viewing angle, and is capable of realizing prevention of hue changes and reflection of the external light at a high level, and to provide electronic equipment. SOLUTION: An organic EL display device, equipped with a display element substrate which has a plurality of display elements and in which pixels comprising a plurality of subpixel regions R, G, B having different display colors are arranged into a matrix form, and a color filter substrate having a color filter in which a color material layer, is arranged corresponding to the plurality of the subpixel regions R, G, B. In the color filter substrate, black masks 19 are installed at positions that correspond to in between neighboring subpixel regions R, G, B and the subpixel regions R, G, B, the respective subpixel regions R, G, B are divided into a plurality of divided regions a, b, c, d, and subblack masks 24 are installed between the divided regions a, b, c, d.
