A method and an apparatus for managing records of an image display device are provided to solve complicated things that the same channel information about a digital TV program as that of a record is read and compared every time to control the rating limitation information of the record and solve inconvenience in moving to other menu items to change the rating limitation information of the record in the record list. A key input unit(60) inputs a user request instruction. A storage unit(70) stores a corresponding program and the rating limitation information of the program if a recording instruction is inputted through the key input unit. A display unit(50) displays the list of the record and other information stored in the storage unit. A control unit(80) controls that the rating limitation information of a corresponding record can be changed according to a request of a user if the user changes the rating limitation information of a desired record through the key input unit in the record list displayed on the display unit and controls that the changed rating limitation information is stored in the storage unit.
