The invention relates to a fitting (1) for compression-joining pipe sections (2) having a substantially cylindrical inner contour. The fitting (1) has at least one radially outward pointing bulge (11) in which a sealing element (14) is provided. The fitting (1) can be slid onto the pipe sections (2), the inner contour of the fitting (1) having an area with a noncircular cross-section on at least one end. The invention also relates to a joining system for compression-joining pipe sections (2) and a fitting (1) as well as a sealing element (14) interposed between the two in a bulge (11) of the fitting (1). The inner contour of the fitting (1) is partially noncircular and there is at least one axial gap (3), extending across the entire joining area, between the pipe section (2) and the inner contour of the fitting (1) in the uncompressed state. |
