<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink for inkjet recording having excellent ejection reliability, image uniformity, fixability, marker resistance, and storage stability, and in addition to these, gloss and image density when printed on a sheet of glossy paper, and to provide an aqueous dispersion used for the water-based ink. <P>SOLUTION: The water dispersion for ink-jet recording is a water dispersion of water-insoluble polymer particles containing carbon black, wherein the DBP oil absorption of the carbon black is 20-90 ml/100 g; and the specific surface area of the carbon black is 40-230 m<SP>2</SP>/g.
