PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toilet sand for cats, namely, cat sand which can effectively control the smell of cat urine. SOLUTION: This cat sand has compounded a water-swelling clay component, such as bentonite, and a non-swelling solid component, having a pH of 4 or lower, measured at a concentration of 5 wt.% using 1% salt water, such as acid clay, in an amount which will not inhibit the water-swelling properties of the clay.
