PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical strain measuring element, an optical strain measuring device, or the like which eliminates the wiring of a strain gauge, can measure strain with higher precision than conventional techniques by using a conventional optical method, and can determine the direction of strain by being provided with sensitivity only for strain in a specific direction. SOLUTION: The optical strain measuring element is configured by arranging metallic microstructures each of which comprises a plurality of metallic microbodies having a dimension less than the wavelength of incident light and which are arranged at intervals smaller than the dimension of the metallic microbodies.
