PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rivet that can tightly secure a connected object and has a smaller portion projecting from the surface of the connected object, and a fixing structure by a rivet. SOLUTION: The rivet includes a shank 12 to be inserted into a through hole, a portion to be buried 14 that is projectingly formed at one end of the shank so as to extend around the shank, and a connecting portion 16 projectingly formed on the portion to be buried on the side opposite to the shank. The portion to be buried 14 is formed in a flange-like shape having a width larger than the diameter of the shank 12 and a thickness smaller than the thickness of the connected object so that the portion to be buried deforms the connected object and is buried in the connected object when the connected object is fixed by the rivet. The width gradually becomes larger from the shank 12 toward the connecting portion 16 and is smaller than the width of the connecting portion 16. The connecting portion 16 has a projecting portion formed in a flange-like shape having a thickness that becomes smaller toward its outer peripheral edge.
