PURPOSE: A mat of a catalytic converter is provided to prevent exhaust gas from leaking through the joint part by forming protrusions and grooves on the joint part. CONSTITUTION: A mat(10) of a catalytic converter comprises rectangular protrusions(11) on one side, and grooves(12) corresponding to the protrusions on the other. The protrusion has a cross section of arc, square, saw-tooth, or triangular shape. The thickness of the protrusion is less than the whole thickness of the mat.
