Aspects of the present disclosure relate to the management of waste and information related to waste processing. A waste processing unit is configured to receive and at least partially process waste, such as organic based food waste. As part of the collection process, the waste processing unit can include a user interface and input devices that receive or generate waste processing information associated with the deposit of the waste in the waste processing unit. The waste processing information can be processed locally by the waste processing unit. Additionally, the collected or processed waste processing information can be transmitted to a waste processing unit information service for further data collection and analysis. |
