1,165,427. Continuous steelmaking. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE. Sept.5, 1967 [Sept.28, 1966], No.40505/67. Addition to 1, 095, 880. Heading C7D. The process disclosed in Specification 1, 095, 880, in which hot pre-reduced solid material containing heat-generating elements is introduced into a bath of liquid steel into which oxygen is blown, is modified by using as the pre-reduced material hot iron pellets having a high-carbon content together with pellets of low-carbon content, which may be either hot or cold. The high-carbon pellets may contain 10% to 25% of carbon, while the lowcarbon pellets may contain 0À01% to 2%. As exemplified high-carbon pellets leaving the carburising unit at 1000‹C. are fed directly to the liquid bath.
|
