[Also in Division F2] In a drive arrangement for a paper, &c. cutting machine the cutter head is advanced by a lead screw 9 connected to a disc 8 of a magnetic clutch and driven by a motor 5 and pulley 10, the clutch being controlled by a pulse-operated circuit 7 for which the pulses are generated by the disc 8. As shown disc 8 has peripheral teeth 11 which move past a magnetic pulse generating head 12 operating a trigger circuit 13. In operation the total number of pulses appropriate to the desired rotation of disc 8 and lead screw 9 is preset on a counter 14 which, at the end of the run, operates the trigger circuit 13 to energize a brake 15 which brings the disc 8 to rest.</p> |
