A method of mounting needles in a needle board comprises fitting a compressible bush or liner into each hole in the board and inserting the needles through the bushes so that the needle shanks are a tight fit and compress the bush material which is preferably a synthetic plastics material. The holes in the board are preferably cylindrical and the outer walls of the bushes are preferably cylindrical. The bush may have a circular flange at p one end for longitudinally locating the bush in the hole, which flange preferably has a radial slot or recess for engagement by the cranked end of the needle shank. The body of the bush may also be provided with one or more radial slots throughout its length. In a further embodiment, the inner and/or outer walls of the bush are longitudinally fluted. |
