In a fastener, for fitting in a bore 18 in a support 19, a radially projecting bearing flange 24 engages the surface 21 of the support surrounding the hole 18, a radially projecting broaching flange 13 engages the bore 18 wall, an annular groove 23 is provided between the flanges 24, 13 and a plurality of axially-extending radially-projecting teeth 15 on the flange 13 have troughs 20 which are of a diameter less than the diameter than the flange 24. The teeth 15 have cutting edges 16 which bite into the bore 18 wall when the fastener is driven into position and the metal curls 22 formed by the edges 16 enter an annular groove 14 to assist holding the fastener in position. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the flange 12 is omitted and replaced by cylindrical position which is rolled over the lower surface of the support 19 when the fastener is in situ. |
