<p>Surface coating composition based on thermosetting resin contains powdered Al2O3 and fibrous fillers. Coatings have esp. high transparency and are resistant to wear and scratching. On decorative laminates. Composition consists of 100 pts. resin, pref. melamine-formaldehyde resin. 6-26 pts. finely-divided, hard, abrasion-resistant inorganic filler and 10-40 pts. finely-divided fibrous filler. Inorganic filler contains 83, pref. 95-99.9, esp. 99% pure (fused) Al2O3 with Mho hardness 9 and particle size 20-30u, and opt. SiO2 and/or insoluble inorganic silicate in 1:5 to 1:30, pref, 1:7 to 1:10 wt. ratio to Al2O3. Pref. composition is 100 pts. resin, 7.5 or 10 pts. Al2O3, 1 pt. silicate and 20 pts. fibrous filler.</p> |
