A steadying device for a hand-held camera comprises a box-like structure 12 having on its upper face a threaded rod 28 and lock nut 30 by means of which it can be attached to the tripod fitting of the camera. Within the box is a flexible metal tape 22 having perforations 24 along its length, wound on a reel 20 which rotates on a spindle 18. The free end of tape 20 has pivoted thereto a strip 52, and when the tape is extended, the camera operator may hold strip 52 against the ground by standing on it, thus providing a firm anchorage for the camera. A spring-loaded rod 34 can engage in a.selected perforation 24 to lock the tape in that position.</p> |
