1,090,026. Oscillating machines. MALLORY BATTERIES Ltd. June 15, 1965 [June 15, 1964], No. 25343/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F2] An oscillating motor comprises at least one armature 16a, passing through a coil 10 having permanent magnets 61, 63, and pivoted by means of a one-way clutch 19a which converts the oscillatory motion to unidirectional rotation of an output shaft 18. As shown, the output shaft 18 carries two one-way clutches 19a, 72 attached to respective armatures 15a, 71. U-shaped permanent magnets 61 ... 64 are provided, polarized so that when A.C. flows in coil 10, the armatures 15a, 71 oscillate in opposition hence one way clutch 19a provides rotary output motion during positive half cycles and the other clutch 72 operates during negative half cycles. Figs. 1-11 (not shown) relate to arrangements using a single oscillating armature and apertured permanent magnets, the output shaft being pivoted in a second oneway clutch fixed to the mounting. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the motor drives cam-operated timing switches (for a washing machine) via a train of gears. Figs. 5-8 (not shown) relate to the construction of one-way clutches 19a, 72 (see Division F2) in which spring-loaded rollers are interposed between the output shaft and the concentric outer ring on which the armature is mounted. |
