[Also in Division F2] A one-piece plastics bearing member comprises two body parts 17, 20 each including a bearing surface 25, 26, with a flexible unjointed hinge part 19 connecting the two body parts, and means, e.g. the shaped stud 21-23 on the first body part which snaps into engagement with the second body part, eg.: via hole 18, to retain the parts in a closed position in which surfaces 25, 26 define a journal bearing. The plastics material may be PVC or polypropylene. The whole member may be moulded as part of a sun visor in a vehicle and the bearing is then closed around a rod about which the visor is rotatable. To prevent movement of the visor with vehicle vibration an extra clamp may be placed across shoulders 29, 30 to increase the frictional resistance of the bearing. |
