A cylindrical catalytic reactor comprises a steel shell 2, a refractory ceramic lining 3, a removable plate 11 for catalyst discharge, a gas port 13, gas pipes 4 and 5 which are in communication with the inside of the reactor via circumferential channel 6 and the ports between interlocking firebars 9, and a water jacket 1. In operation the reactor may be filled up to channel 6 with ceramic balls and catalyst placed on top of this. |
