A cable driving device for the sliding roof of a vehicle comprises a dished housing 1 in which are accommodated two parallel longitudinally slidable rack-like cable drivers, the gear 8 engaging the drivers and being mounted on a base 15 detachably connected to the housing to provide easy access to the drivers. Screw threaded portions on the cables form the drivers which are guided in U-shaped sheet metal channels 11, 12, the driving gear 8 being mounted on a shaft 9 supported in a bearing bore in the housing and operated by a conventional hand crank 13. Conduits 4, 5, 6, 7 for the cables are connected to the housing which may be of cast iron. A slipping clutch may be provided in the drive. |
