[Also in Division C3] Polymers of cyclodisalazanes which form coatings on a variety of substrates have the general formula in which each of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen or fluorine atoms or a hydrocarbon group or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP>, or R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP>, together represent a polyurethane group, n is 1 to 10 and p the degree of polymerisation. Specified substrates include glass, metals, rubber, wood, plastics, leather, textiles and paper. The polymers may be applied in a solvent and subsequently baked. Temperatures of 300‹C and higher result in cross-linking of the polymers on the substrate securing good adhesion. Additives such as powdered wood, asbestos, glass fibres, metal fibres and pigments may be mixed with the polymers. |
