The invention relates to a vertical roof support in the form of a tube, in particular for supporting roof surfaces provided with solar-energy generators. The invention is characterised in that the roof support exhibits pocket-like plant receptacles which are made in said support in the radial direction, are provided on the outer circumference thereof, enclose the tube at least over part of its circumference, widen conically from bottom to top and are in connection, via through-passages in the wall of the tube, with the interior of the latter. Fitted on the wall of the tube are shut-off members which, when in the open state, channel water to the plant receptacles.
