The sprayer electrode is a sandwich structure which is made by electrodeposition. A support substrate is deposited on the insulating base. This substrate is pref. Cu, Ni, or Fe. On this substrate is deposited a perforated layer of Ti, Ta, Pt, W, C, or their alloys. The thickness of this layer pref. 100 mu. The sprayer and collector electrode are arranged concentrically. Hard alloy deposit reduces wear due to ion bombardment and corrosive gases.
