1,209,426. Blow-moulded plastics container. SOBREFINA S.A. 20 March, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 14733/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] A container comprises an inner thin-walled plastics body 6 having a dome-shaped bottom and a cylindrical body portion formed from a single sheet of plastics material bent double and with its side edges joined to form two sealing fins 7 that are folded in towards and pressed into the body portion, the plastics body being surrounded by an open-ended sleeve 8 of a stiff, mechanically strong material. A top part 11 provides a flange 14 that rests on the upper surface of sleeve 8. The container body is formed by inserting a folded sheet 1 of plastics material between co-operating mould halves 2 which trap and heat seal the lateral edges of the sheet, forming the fins 7. Application of a pressure between, and a vacuum outside the folded sheet when the material is hot causes the sheet to follow the shape of the mould. While still hot, or reheated, the fins 7 may be folded in towards, and pressed into the body 6 so that they do not project exteriorly, by inserting into and rotating the body in a hollow cylinder. Several containers are produced simultaneously by the mould halves 2 comprising a number of compartments, each housing a portion of the folded sheet 1. |
