Hydraulic arms grasp potatoes in packs and place therm in an entry lock for pressurising prior to transfer by a second pair of arms into the heating chamber forming the first part of the pressure vessel. The vessel is partitioned off by three walls, two to cover the top half and one the bottom half of the section thus making a central lock to prevent temperature balance between the heating and cooling chambers in the vessel. The potato packs are handled by a flight and hook chain and are contained in wire baskets for permeation. |
