[Also in Divisions C5 and D1] Novel sulphoalkylcarbamate esters having the formula wherein R is an alkyl of from 1 to 7 carbon atoms, R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or an alkyl of from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R<SP>11</SP> is hydrogen or alkyl of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, M is hydrogen, sodium, potassium or lithium, n is 0, 1 or 2 and x is an integer of from 1 to 5 are prepared by reacting a chloro substituted formic acid ester of an alkyl ether of ethylene glycol, or of a primary aliphatic alcohol, or of an alkyleneoxide adduct of said alcohol resulting from the reaction of excess phosgene with the corresponding alkyl ether of ethylene glycol, or primary aliphatic alcohol, or alkyleneoxide adduct of said alcohol, with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of a 2-amino-alkane sulphonic acid or of an alkali metal salt of an N-alkylamino-alkane sulphonic acid at a pH of 10À5 to about 11. |
