In a screw conveyor for liquids, slurries, etc., as in parent patent and having a screw partly or completely enclosed in a trough, with a drive for causing it to rotte, one end of the screw being supported for rotation directly on the trough while the other end is attached indirectly to the trough, also rotatably, via a drive flanged to the trough has the improvement in which the screw comprises at least two screws, known per se, provided with a single drive and connected in series in the direction of conveying, while the troughs for each pair of adjacent screw sections are connected together via an intermediate chamber.
