A sliver coiler has means movable into a position in which sliver is accumulated thereon during the change of a filled sliver can. After a predetermined amount of sliver has been coiled, a plate is moved in between the coiler head and filled can by a pneumatic cylinder, and pusher arms mounted on a chain replace the filled can by an empty can. The plate is movably mounted on a support which is pivoted at one end and resiliently mounted at the other end so as to be downwardly movable to allow room for the sliver to be accumulated beneath the coiler head. The sliver is severed during the change of cans by being gripped between the plate and a stop bar on the plate support, and is pushed off the plate into an empty can be a wiper bar during retraction of the plate. |
