BROWN ALGA COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain a brown alga composition capable of providing a food with liver function disorder preventing action, liver function disorder improving action and preventing action on diseases of circulatory organs without damaging flavor of food by specifying a fatty acid composition of triglyceride contained in a brown alga composition. CONSTITUTION:A brown alga is extracted with an organic solvent. Fatty acids of triglycerides contained in the brown alga are made into a composition consisting essentially of palmitic acid, stearic acid and oleic acid by a method such as column chromatography treatment. Silica column chromatography is preferable as the column chromatography and acetone is preferable as the organic solvent.
