Throwing or flinging head for devices for the introduction of loose materials into containers comprises a housing with an upper in- and a lower outlet opening, in which is fitted at least one fast running throwing mechanism consisting of two inwards counter-rotating, at the entrance side, flinging wheels, mounted on parallel axles symmetrically to the common in- and outlet axis. The wheels are fitted with rubber buckets projecting beyond them and touching each other along their front surfaces at the point of minimum distance between the wheel circumference. To reduce wear, the housing is pref. lined with a synthetic resin skin. The device is used for introducing refractory ramming material into casting ladles and furnaces, and also for introducing foundry sand into mould boxes.
