A granular powder of tetrafluoroethylene-omega hydroperfluoroolefine copolymer comprising at least 99 weight per cent tetrafluoroethylene and at most 1 weight per cent omega-hydroperfluoroolefine having the general formula CF2=CF(CF2CF2)nH, where n is an integer of from 1 to 5, said granular powder being an aggregate 0.25-2.0 mm. in diameter of globular primary particles (defined) whose average particle size ranges from 0.10 to 0.25 micron is obtained by copolymerizing in an aqueous medium having dissolved therein a dispersant and an initiator 100 parts by weight of tetrafluoroethylene and 0.002-15 parts by weight of an omega-hydroperfluoroolefine and co-agulating and dewatering the resultant polymer dispersion. The polymerization may be initiated by ionizing radiation at a dose rate of 1x102-1x108 r./hr., total dose 1x103-1x108 r. Dispersing agents used are water-soluble acids or salts having a polyfluoroalkyl group. Conventional free radical initiators may also be employed. |
