Mast protection - with foot bound with impregnated bandage and covered by shrunk pvc with protective fluid reservoir

The foot of a wooden mast is protected by a layer of paste or impregnated bandage wound round the base, covered by a shrunk PVC cladding. A reservoir of protective fluid is attached to the mast to allow it to seep between the PVC cladding and the mast to maintain protection against rain and groud damp.
