A system is provided for locating a misplaced appliance remote control unit which consists of a transmitter associated with an appliance and a beeper associated with an appliance remote control unit. When the appliance remote control unit is misplaced; the transmitter can be activated to cause the beeper to produce an alarm to help a user find the appliance remote control unit.
