The safety device for road vehicles in a crash automatically cuts off the current from the alternator and from the battery after a severe shock, so reducing the risk of fire. The device is held in a container and a linkage transmits the force of a shock from the bumpers. The linkage is guided by a bearing and controlled by a compensating spring. A rod transmits movement to a pivoting part which carries switches in the battery and alternator circuits. A pawl keeps the pivoting part in the open position (until re-set) to avoid the spring remaking the circuit.
|
