<p>Charging device for a container, comprises the use of a tubular distributor suspended from a pivot hinge, and with at least one feeder pipe ending in the distributor. The novelty is that the pivot hinge consists of a universal joint; that the feeder pipe is displaced w.r.t. the axis of the container and runs below the universal joint to pass through an opening in the distributor; and a lever is fixed to the distributor and extends above the universal joint to end in connections for two piston rods driven by work cylinders to move the lever. The charging device is pref. used on a blast furnace, seals being used between the universal joint and the distributor, esp. two seals forming a chamber filled with a fluid. The distributor is fitted with a chute which is moved via the work cylinders to ensure uniform distribution of the charge across the blast furnace according to a programme.</p> |
