The suspension device, for overhead power lines is supported from an overhead structure at the end of two cords and itself supports the lines beneath it. Damping elements (3, 4) are provided to prevent the remaining cord being suddenly overloaded and breaking if the first cord should break. The damping elements may take several forms, e.g. elastic arms, springs, flexible bar, and are located between the part (1) fixed to the cords and the part (6) from which the lines are suspended.
