The firearm mechanism is designed for rapid dismantling and assembly in the field by one man without using tools. The compact design andd short recoil make it suitable for use in an armoured fighting vehicle turret. The firearm has a breech lock and a support which has relatively long support is fitted below the sleeve. The barrel moves backwards and forwards within the housing and a restorer is provided for compensating recoil and restoring forces along it. An accelerator is provided which engages on recoil of the barrel with the front end of the breech block support sleeves and its accelerates the breech block housing relative to the barrel on recoil.
