In a remote controller for communications devices, such as televisions, the set analog values for changing the device functions are converted into pulses which control an RF generator (7) whose signals are transmitted on a carrier frequency by means of infrared light to the device which is to be controlled. The latter has a receiving circuit (11) for the infrared light signals, a demodulator circuit (12) and an evaluation circuit (13-18) with function-control stages (19) connected downstream. In order to reduce circuit cost at the transmitting and receiving ends, to achieve faster access times for function setting and more accurate selection of the transmitted setting information, the pulses which are proportional to the set analog values are transmitted by means of pulse phase modulation (PPM) and stored in memories (18) as direct setting information following demodulation of the received signal, the respective memory status of said memories serving as setting information for the function setter (19) which is to be controlled. <IMAGE> |
