The fault locating device consists of a radiation divider separating an input light signal from a laser in two parts, and of a photodetector for reception of a signal part. The radiation divider consists of a branching device with three optical fibres (2-4). Two branching-off fibres (2, 4) are joined to the butt end of a first fibre (3) by a connecting device (13-15). The laser is connected to one branching-off fibre (2), and the photodetector to the other fibre (4). A plug is connected to the first fibre (2).
