Coupling sleeve, esp. for polyethylene-sheathed power cables, has an insulating body surrounding the cable and a coupling device, which is an elastic thermoplastics tube with outer screw thread at both ends onto which cappings are screwed, adapted to compress a bushing in axial direction. This bushing, of elastic, insulating, material, bears against the inner surface of the conically tapering tube and on the stripped cable end. The coupling device is designed as a plug-in connection. The outer surface of the tube and its inner surface in that section delimiting the space for taking-up the coupling device are coated with electrically conductive layers and that coating the inner surface is in electric contact with the plug-in connection.
