Container for transporting and storing metal melts, esp. for use in metal powder processing operations, comprises a metallic cylinder with a ceramic lining, sepd. by heat insulation and closed by a sealing cover with another heat insulation. A ceramic intermediate layer between the ceramic and heat insulation of the crucible has several vertical shafts with inserted resistance heating elements introduced through unheated bushings on top. Inexpensive and simple heating system is obtd. which can be used for any desired pressure and ensures adequate heat storage even for the intervening heating pauses.
