Coke oven door cleaning device - with one motor driving traversing mechanism and radial cutters on spring-loaded carrier plates

A cleaning device for the lower part of a coke oven door surface includes a traversing mechanism on rollers and on it a pair of fittings in which carrier plates are hinged. These carrier plates are pivoted at the other end on a set of spring assemblies which are hinged to the traversing mechanism. A motor drives through a gearbox both the traversing mechanism and a set of radial cutters which are mounted on the carrier plates. This can remove even firmly encrusted tar deposits from the lower door and is not obstructed by the knife edge seals on the door.
