The invention constitutes a method during underwater explosion welding, on the sea bed for example, for removing the water between the material elements (2, 3) which are undergoing the explosion welding, and represents a considerable simplification compared with known conventional systems. Hereby, the problem with sealants, pumping units and other equipment disappears.Air, or another suitable gas, is conveyed to a column space (5) between the material pieces (2, 3) in a short time frame and immediately before the welding operation for the removal of any water present in the column space.The requisite pressure pulse of air or gas can be conveyed from a pressure tank attached to the column space (5).The pressure pulse can also be maintained in a pyrotechnical way, either by gas development in the seam space itself, or in a container especially attached for this purpose.<IMAGE> |
