PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head which performs a printing of an uniform and better printing quality, and improves a wear durability of a surface through reduction in a pressure under which the thermal head is pressed against a recording paper, by constituting the device such that heat energy, generated by a heating element, is transferred to a heat-sensitive recording paper through utilization of radiant heat transfer. CONSTITUTION:A heating element 2, consisting of a heating resistance, is laminated on a substrate 1. In a thermal head, in which a protection film 5, formed of a material for protecting the heating element 2 from oxidation and wear and transmitting radiant rays, is formed on the surface of the heating element, heat energy, generated by the heating element 2, is moved through the protection film 5 in the form of radiant rays, and a color-producing reagent of a recording paper 4 is color-developed by a radiant heat transfer to perform a printing on a heat-sensitive recording paper 4 spaced by a gap 6. This permits relieving of a pressure under which the thermal head is pressed against the heat-sensitive recording paper 4, improves a wear durable performance, and obtains an excellent printing quality through prevention of the occurrence of unevenness in printing density. |
